The Inspire Africa training concluded for 2022 with the training of Gaborone International School. Being one of Botswana’s premier schools, it was not surprising that they joined the Inspire family. Gaborone International School is part of the ADvTECH group and has recently invested heavily in the construction of new facilities including robotics and 3D printing laboratories. Aside from the educator training, we provided the school with equipment for the new labs including five 3D printers.
Teachers were trained in the use of the new Inspire 3D Printing Curriculum, which includes printer maintenance and the use of various CAD packages. None of the teachers had experience in using 3D printers or 3D design, but this was made up by their enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
The thorough training and step-by-step instruction provided by the Inspire Africa instructor guided them through the entire learning process. After completing the course, the educators were well-versed in the use of 3D printers and the teaching of these technologies to their students.
In 2023 Inspire Africa will be conducting training at many more schools in the SADC (Southern African Development Community) region as we roll out our Inspire STEAM Education programmes to educators and students across Sub-Saharan Africa. Watch this space.
